If you really think banning guns is the answer to stopping shootings, unfollow me right now. You see, most the people who ‘think’ guns are the problem are in fact people who know NOTHING about them.

For instance, Vice President Joe Biden, an advocate for gun control, was asked what to do during a home invasion. His answer? Take your shotgun AND SHOOT IT IN THE AIR TO SCARE THE INTRUDERS AWAY. Normally, you’d have to be wearing a helmet at recess to think that answer is okay, but I’ll explain why that idea is so terrible.

1. It is EXTREMELY dangerous to fire ANY FIREARM into the air! What goes up must come down, and most rounds keep velocity when they are fired upwards. That means the ammunition will come down, and hurt someone/something.

2. It’s illegal to discharge a weapon upwards in many states, so following this advice will land your ass in jail for misconduct with a firearm.

3. Say the intruder(s) hear the shot, and aren’t immediately scared off? That’s right, they’ll realize you need to reload, and they will take the chance to KILL YOU. If you can, you stop the threat while you can, instead of wasting time trying to be peaceful.

Now, even if you don’t like guns, deciding to ban them is in itself the wrong option to the problem.
Look at it this way:
There is an estimated 300,000,000 guns in the US. THREE HUNDRED MILLION.
Know how many people die annually by firearms? About 30,000(Yes, including violent criminals killed by police).
That’s about 1 person killed per every 10,000 guns. Go ahead, and call me biased, but this is stuff you will find reported by the FBI, a non-affiliated group of guns/gun control.

Want to know how many people died from alcohol in one year? 75,000, and growing.
Deaths from car accidents? 40,000. That’s 115 A DAY.
A real problem? 100,000+ Americans die EVERY YEAR from abusing prescription drugs. Ya know, the things you can get for $15 bucks at most stores?
How is it that all these things that kill us are simply ignored, yet a gun can somehow be considered the deadliest item in existence, without even being looked at?

But the real killer of Americans is not a gun, alcoholic beverage, car, or even a pill.

It’s our minds.

When’s the last time you saw a commercial talking about counseling people with mental illnesses? How many people march the streets demanding help for the mentally disturbed? Where are the people who desperately cry out to stop the violence, and talk to the individuals who believe in it? Yet everywhere you go, there are dozens upon dozens of adds that will rather convince you of something by emotion rather than fact. You see people in the streets yelling from the top of their lungs that guns are evil, yet not one of them has ever been within 100 feet of a gun. You can find an establishment that hates guns almost anywhere, but where is an accessible establishment that helps people with internal problems, and feelings those people have?

If you don’t acknowledge the facts you are given, you can never solve the problem you face. Do some research, and you’ll see that guns really aren’t our problem.
